MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - The prestigious annual Eden Sport Awards, hosted by the Eden Sport Council, are taking place in the Mossel Bay Town Hall tonight.
Sports people from Mossel Bay, George, Oudtshoorn and Knysna areas have been shortlisted to win awards.
Nominees from the Mossel Bay area are Johan Windt (modern pentathlon), Liandré Schoeman (netball), Linèl Engelbrecht (cycling), Chané Reinecke (lifesaving/pentathlon), Sunette Muller (netball), Tana Harris (golf) and Jack Juries (rugby)
Several dignitaries are attending the awards and giving speeches and/or handing out awards. They include the Western Cape MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sport Anroux Marais, Western Cape chief director: Sport and Recreation Dr Lyndonn Bouah, Western Cape director: Sport Promotion Thabu Tutu, Western Cape director: Sport Development Paul Hendricks, Mossel Bay mayor Alderman Dirk Kotzè, Mossel Bay Council speaker Alderlady Venolea Fortuin and Hessequa mayor Councillor Grant Riddles.
MEC Marais will give the keynote speech at the awards.
