Lady golfers try out bowls for a change

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Last Thursday our ladies had a completely new experience, from putting a small white ball on undulating greens, to trying to get a much heavier, large black one near to the smallish "kitty" on very flat greens.

Did you know that one has "out of bounds" rules in bowls? Well, we saw a few black balls traversing the width of the bowling green at odd angles. Undoubtedly this was when they got the "bias" wrong.

Whatever happened, all I can say is that with the cheering and laughter that accompanied the activities, I don't think the bowling club will ever be the same again.

At the end of the day the team event, which included nine holes of matchplay golf and teams competing in the bowls, the "captain's" team in red had a narrow win over the "vice captain's" blue team.

Our thanks to the bowling club members for their kind hospitality and support, with what turned out to be a most enjoyable day, ending with a delicious worsrolletjie and a few cold ones.
