GEORGE NEWS - The Pacaltsdorp Olympian Elroy Gelant finished 11th in the men’s marathon in Paris this morning.
He ran an impressive sub-2h10m race ending about 3 minutes behind the winner, Tamirat Tola, from Ethiopia who achieved an Olympic record time of 2:06:26.
Gelant finished in a time of 2:09:07 and fellow South African, Stephen Mokoka finished 27th with a time of 2:10:59.
His performance is a considerable improvement from the 2021 games in Tokyo where Gelant finished 33rd with a time of 2:16:43.
