MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Diaz JKA karate team members were in unstoppable form, competing for the Western Province JKA team at the South African JKA Championships in Johannesburg on the weekend of 20 to 21 May.
Junaid Damons attained gold in the kata and silver in kumite. Braden Windvogel won a silver in kata and a silver in kumite. Waydene Michaels and Vorné Coetzee both won silver in kata and bronze in kumite.
"The action was lightning fast and furious, but the Diaz JKA members were up to it in the Western Province JKA team," said instructor, Michael Coetzee.
"The SA JKA Championships are rated as the toughest karate championships in South Africa."
Coetzee is a sixth Dan and an international instructor and "one of the best in the country", he notes.
