The Thabo September u/16 tournament featured 16 teams from the Knynsa, George, Mossel Bay and surrounding areas in the Southern-Western Cape.
The tournament is the brainchild of the Super Sport United defender, Thabo September, who hails from the same area.
This tournament is not about prize money or trophies, but for youngsters to showcase their talent. Already, two youngsters were discovered by Absa Premiership side, Supersport United last year - one youngster from Mossel Bay. They are now part of the development structures at Supersport.
September said he came up with the concept after realising that there was a need for an event of this nature.
"I saw a need and I decided to do something about it. I might not have much, but I believe that with the little that I have, I can make a meaningful contribution to my community. We have to produce more footballers in this region," September added.
