GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route Badgers produced a thrilling performance this afternoon, Thursday 29 October, beating the Momentum Multiply Titans by three wickets in Cricket SA’s inaugural Yes Play Pro 20 Cup Super 8 clash at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn.
The home side successfully chased down the Titans’ total of 157/6, finishing on 158/7 with nine balls to spare in a match that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.
SWD CEO Albertus Kennedy says it is a day to celebrate in their history. “We played against a world-class outfit. This victory was a great team effort, we stuck to our game plan and manage to beat them. A Big thank you to all our supporters, especially those who were out along the field today,” said an elated Kennedy.
The victory marks a major milestone for the Badgers, who have secured a place in the Super 8 stage of Cricket South Africa’s inaugural Yes Play Pro20 Cup after an impressive pool campaign.
The Badgers won four of their seven pool matches, including a thrilling last-ball victory over a Division 1 side in Potchefstroom two weekends ago. Their progression to the Super 8 earned them two home fixtures, including this clash against the star-studded Titans.
This afternoon the Titans posted 157/6 in their allotted 20 overs, with Luandré Pretorius providing the innings’ early impetus through an explosive 44 off just 20 balls, including five fours and three sixes.

The Titans boasted an impressive line-up featuring several high-profile players, including Dewald Brevis, Luandré Pretorius, Tabraiz Shamsi, Eathan Bosch, Duan Jansen, Donovan Ferreira and Junior Dala.
The Badgers will now look to build on this result as they continue their Super 8 campaign, with the victory providing a significant boost for South Western Districts Cricket and its supporters. They will play the Eastern Storm on Saturday at 13:00, also in Oudtshoorn.
