KAROO NEWS - The road between De Rust and Oudtshoorn remains closed. A part of the road between Oude Muragie and Le Roux station collapsed after the Nels River broke its banks and flooded the road.
According to Oudtshoorn Municipality the road will be closed for most of today and motorists are asked not to make use of the road under any circumstances and to use the Langkloof route as an alternative.
The road between Oudtshoorn and the Cango Caves is closed due to rock falls while Robinson Pass between Oudtshoorn and Mossel Bay is open.
Yesterday afternoon the Outeniqua Pass was closed for a short while to clear an accident scene. Traffic was brought to a standstill in both directions and motorists are warned that the pass is extremely slippery in wet conditions.
The Swartberg Pass remains closed while heavy flooding has also rendered Meiringspoort impassable.
Many other problems have been reported in the area due to rain and emergency workers and the municipalities are being kept busy, with more rain predicted in the Garden Route for Friday, before clearing up over the weekend.
