MOSSEL BAY NEWS - This year marked the twelfth one that the Bartolomeu Dias Museum hosted its speech evening for high school learners, studying English as their First Additional Language.
The event took place on 18 May, which is International Museum Day.
During this stage of the event, the best five speakers from Mossel Bay are selected to speak at the gala museum speech contest in September. This year it will be held at Dias Museum.
The CP Nel, Beaufort West and Dias museums each organise their own individual speech contests and select their five finalists. All these finalists will then speak at the gala event to determine who the best speaker of the Southern Cape and Karoo region is.
The schools that participated this year were Sao Bras, Curro Mossel Bay, Indwe and Hillcrest.
Chamare Caffoen of Sao Bras (first place) and Curro Mossel Bay learners Zandri van Greunen (second place) and Lara Muller (third place) were the top speakers.
The adjudicators for the evening were Ms C du Plessis (head adjudicator), Mr M Ntshanyana and Ms C Wiggill.
