MOSSEL BAY NEWS - According to a statement by the Garden Route District Municipality, the wildfire near Ruiterbos was brought under control overnight.
No lives have been lost and all structures in the Ruiterbos Village were successfully protected.
Firefighters are busy with intensive mopping up operations and will also keep a close watch for any flare-ups that could be caused by wind gusts. The weather forecasted is between 28 - 30 degrees today with moderate windy conditions.
No aerial firefighting is on the cards yet.
Garden Route District Municipality Fire and Rescue Services, Mossel Bay Municipality Fire & Rescue Services, DFFE Forestry Support Programme and Cape Nature all worked as a collective throughout the night.
They will continue working together until the wildfire is declared safely contained.
