MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A shop owner and his wife were victim of a robbery last Friday, 7 May, in Bland Street, central Mossel Bay.
According to information from the Mossel Bay Police, four suspects wearing masks entered Zeppelins Trading and threatened the man and woman with firearms.
The incident took place at about 18:30.
More than R20 000 in cash was taken as well as cellphones and cigarettes. The estimated value of the stolen goods is R47 000.
Although the two were tied up by the robbers and locked in a room inside the shop, they were not injured.
"We urge shop owners to be vigilant at opening and closing times, when business dies down. Also, with winter approaching and it getting darker earlier, keep an eye out for suspicious looking people or vehicles.
"Lock your shop or call on the police to patrol in the area of your shop, should you have any concerns," says Mossel Bay Police Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Pieter Koekemoer.
No arrests have been made, but the police are following up information and analysing video footage from security cameras inside the shop.
A case of robbery is being investigated by Sergeant Riaan Karelse. Anyone with information is asked to contact Karelse (079 893 9940).
