MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A beloved motorcyclist of the Roadhogs Club Mossel Bay, Herman Harbor (38), lost his life this week.
Philip Hofmeyr, a close friend and member of the Roadhogs, gave a tribute to Harbor on behalf of the club and his family.
According to Hofmeyr, Harbor was tragically taken from them while riding his motorcycle in the early evening hours of Monday 28 September.
“The open road has lost one of its truest souls. It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we share the passing of Herman (Havoc) - he was a friend, brother, father and son.”
Hofmeyr said his friend was a devoted and loving father to his three daughters, Miané, Christelle and Lea. “His three young daughters were his entire world and greatest joy.”
Harbor also leaves behind his parents, Manie and Paula, his sisters, Leandi Strauss and Carina, and Leandi’s son, Stehan.
Hofmeyr said that as a proud and dedicated member of the Roadhogs Club Mossel Bay, Herman lived life with passion and a deep loyalty to his brothers on two wheels.
“The road will never be the same without you, Herman. May the skies be clear, the roads endless, and the wind always at your back. Rest in peace, brother. Ride on.”
Special thanks were given to the Roadhogs, the Hofmeyr family, Janine (Harbor’s ex-wife and the mother of their children) and Reinaldo Chinn, who looked tirelessly into the night to try and find him. Hofmeyr also thanked the police and first responders who helped to find him.
A spokesperson for the Southern Cape Police, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, said the circumstances surrounding Harbor’s death are still under investigation. The KwaNonqaba Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide. Spies said Harbor was found lying near the N2 offramp to George, where paramedics declared him dead.
“Big thanks to all the support and standing by our side, honouring Herman's memory, and showing what true friendship and brotherhood mean. There will be a last ride for him; details will follow on the social groups,” said Hofmeyr.
