MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On Thursday, 10 October a group of men and women attended the court proceedings in which a 24-year-old man made his first appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court in connection with the murder of Michaela Booysen (17).
The group hosted a peaceful, non-political march on 26 September against gender-based violence and violence towards children.
During the march, the group members said it was their intention to be at court in future to support the victims of violent crime.
Police also took two 17-year-old Hillcrest Secondary School learners in for questioning but they have since been released. Police confirmed that the investigation was ongoing.
On Thursday, 17 October three fellow learners will make their second court appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court in connection with the murder of Khuselo Ndanda (17).
The trio is expected to apply for bail.
Pastor Debbie Benjamin, one of the organisers of the anti-violence group, said: "We will show up and attend the court proceedings and we will show Mossel Bay that we will not accept crime in our area."
