MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A 51-year-old man accused of murder made another recent appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court.
He allegedly shot two victims, both 35, killing one and wounding the other in his face at a residence in Adriaans Avenue, KwaNonqaba, last October.
The KwaNonqaba Police Station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, told Mossel Bay Advertiser one of the victims had opened the door and saw a man approaching.
As he tried to close it again, the man began shooting, hitting him in the chest, while another shot struck the second victim in his face.
The suspect fled the scene and the two victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but the first victim was declared dead shortly after. The second victim has since recovered.
The accused was arrested in February and reportedly has other charges against him in George, where he lives, including attempted murder and extortion.
His identity cannot be revealed until he has pleaded to the extortion charges.
He was set to appear in court again on Thursday 2 April. However, the outcome of that appearance is not yet known by the time of publication.
