MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Anneke Spies of Mossel Bay will be in action in the 59kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games this afternoon.
Her event is at 15:00 (SA time) in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Spies is making her debut at the Commonwealth Games as the only woman weightlifter for South Africa.
She says she aims to do her best in Birmingham, but tries not to put too much pressure on herself. She will be happy to simply enjoy the experience.
Spies manages the Eden Fitness and CrossFit Charisma gym in Mossel Bay with her boyfriend, Ruben Burger. Burger, a South African weightlifting Olympian, will be competing on 2 August, also at 15:00 in Birmingham.
