MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality has confirmed that, despite the ongoing heavy rainfall, no road closures are currently being implemented in the area.
According to the municipality’s latest update at about 13:00 today, 6 May, the N2 has been cleared of the sand that had washed onto the road surface near Little Brak River, and the traffic is flowing.
However, roads remain wet, as the stormwater systems are draining slowly but effectively. Motorists are urged to reduce speed and exercise caution.

The municipality’s spokesperson, Cornelle Carstens, says emergency teams have attended to several weather-related incidents, including the safe removal of a fallen tree in Hartenbos. A gabion collapse in Hartenbos Heuwels has also been assessed, and no injuries were reported.
The fire, rescue and disaster management services continue to monitor the roads in outlying areas for potential flooding or closures, while estuaries are also being closely watched.
Meanwhile, the Wolwedans Dam level is rising as run-off from the catchment feeds into the system, although it remains below 60% capacity.

The municipality warns that significant rainfall is still expected, and between 150 and 200mm is being forecast for the period from 5 to 7 May.
Residents are advised to remain cautious, as localised flooding and difficult travel conditions remain a risk.
