MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay singer Rylan Lemmetuis has proved his talent yet again, having been nominated for a KKNK Kanna award, it was announced today.
Rylan played in the local production, beHOORNlik at KKNK arts festival in Oudtshoorn. The name is a play on the word, Oudtshoorn. He was nominated for a Kanna in the category, Best Upcoming Artist/Newcomer.
He sang the song, Tomorrow (the sun will come out) from the production, Annie.
Rylan (13), a Grade 8 Curro Mossel Bay learner, has performed in a number of competitions overseas, he has performed on television in South Africa - on the Expresso Morning Show - and he also had a role in the musical, Sound of Music in Cape Town about two years ago.
Overseas, he has competed in the International Performing Arts Championships (IPAC) in New Jersey and the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, winning multiple medals.
Rylan won eight gold medals and two silver medals at the South African Championships of the Performing Arts in October last year.
The winners of the Kanna awards will be announced at a function in Cape Town on 15 May.
