MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Police have confirmed that a 25-year-old man was arrested last night, following a car chase through the streets of Tarka in Mossel Bay.

Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says they found the BMW in Bill Jeffrey Avenue and upon approaching the vehicle, the driver sped off with the police members in close pursuit.

"The driver lost control off the vehicle and collided with an outside wall of the Life Bayview Hospital in Mossel Bay."

Police managed to arrest the suspect. He faces charges of reckless and negligent driving as well as contravening the Disaster Management Act Covid-19 Regulations.

"He did not confine himself to his residence during the curfew time period. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance soon, once he had been charged," says Pojie.
