MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The identities of the two teenagers who drowned off De Bakke Beach have been confirmed.
They are Nqobile Ncikana (18) and Ayanda Sikhuphela (14), both from Mossel Bay. Nqobile attended Indwe Secondary School, while Ayanda was a learner of Hillcrest Secondary.
Nqobile’s body was recovered from the water on Saturday 25 April.
Following a search operation by the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) and the police, Ayanda’s body was recovered on Sunday 26 April.
Mossel Bay Advertiser visited Ayanda’s family today. They described him as a bubbly child who was always making jokes.
His aunt, Pamella Sikhuphela, said he had dreamt of becoming a doctor, and that he enjoyed school. He loved boxing and playing soccer.
“Ayanda was a happy child,” said Sikhuphela. “We will surely miss his presence at home.”

His funeral will take place in Mossel Bay on Saturday 9 May.
Nqobile’s family said she was a happy soul who loved people and had plans to attend college this year, for which she had already registered.
Her mother, Thobisa, said her funeral will be held in the Eastern Cape next weekend.
Formal identification and post-mortem examinations are scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday 29 April.
