MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND GALLERY - Diaz Beach was buzzing with models and guests dressed to the nines at the exclusive launch of the Garden Route Fashion Council last night, 8 April.

The event was hosted at the Chef’s Emporium and sponsored by Bahia Bleu Restaurant, both at the Diaz Beach Hotel.

Among the VIP guests were executive members of the Mossel Bay municipal council, Garden Route district municipality, both the Mossel Bay and George Business Chambers, Transnet National Ports Authority and others.

Established in 2021 by directors, Gwynne Harding and Tracey-anne Buckley Aggett, the Garden Route Fashion Council has as its aim to promote, develop, expand and market the local fashion and related industries on the Garden Route.

Teaser shows were presented featuring the fashion of local designers Austin Lee (George), Loka, Bunting Boutique and Waves Surf Shop, all from Mossel Bay.

Alderman Dirk Kotzé in, who spoke at the event said that the GRFC fist neatly into the vision of boosting the local economy, especially through offering tourism opportunities. Alderlady Rosina Ruiters, offered an endorsement for the initiative on the part of the Garden Route District Municipality.
