MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Pieter Myburgh has been re-elected the national vice president - technical of the Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA).
Myburgh (Pr Eng), is a fellow of IMESA and Mossel Bay Municipality's Senior Manager: Streets and Stormwater.
"We are very fortunate to have the IMESA Deputy President of SA, Pieter Myburgh as a valued colleague. Mossel Bay also has the first-of-its-kind Wayleave online application and process and, certainly, the town with the least number of potholes over its advanced management system," says Councillor Anton Dellemijn, chair of the portfolio committee of Infrastructure Services.
Myburgh studied at Jim Fouche High School, Bloemfontein, before going on to complete his B Eng (Hons) Civil Engineering at the University of Pretoria in 1992. He has worked mainly in traffic and transportation engineering and currently is the Mossel Bay Municipality's Senior Manager: Streets and Stormwater.
Myburgh joined IMESA in 1992 and is an active member of the Southern Cape/Karoo Branch, serving on the branch committee and previously as branch chair. He served on IMESA's Council for several years before being elected to Exco in 2010, where he held the portfolio of Technical Director: Roads, Transportation and Stormwater until he was elected Vice President: Technical for the 2018-2020 period.
Myburgh has now been re-elected to continue overseeing IMESA projects as Vice President: Technical for 2020-2022.
The local branch includes the Southern Cape/Karoo region and stretches from Swellendam to Plettenberg Bay along the coast and then inland to Beaufort West.
