MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Today the Mossel Bay DA Constituency and its Woman Network lead a Peaceful Protest to the Maintenance Court in Mossel Bay.
While handing over the petition to the acting court manager, Curtis Engel, DA councillor, Alderlady Venolea Fortuin said: "I would like to thank the maintenance court for the work they do. We acknowledge that you do play a vital part in ensuring that children get the rightful support from their parents.
However, as the DA we have speak out and take a stand for the many single mothers that continue to suffer alone while fathers live the good life.
We see them driving fancy cars, living in big homes, wearing branded name shoes, all while their children suffer because they do not pay the maintenance they are responsible for. This is unacceptable. As the DA we call on the the maintenance court to blacklist the defaulters."
The many DA supported at the court said fathers need to pay their "Pap Geld".
"Please enforce harsher punishment for defaulters. Today we ask the court to help single mothers."
The initiative was supported by the deputy executive mayor, alderman Dirk Kotzé and other councillors on the mayoral executive.
