MOSSEL BAY NEWS -  It's not every day one sees a man carrying a coffin down a street.

But this was a sight on a street in Mossel Bay earlier this month. A woman posted a video of a man carrying a coffin in D'Almeida on Facebook. 

It attracted numerous humorous comments. Some thought the man had stolen the coffin.

The Da Gamaskop Police Station investigated to find out if it were stolen. 

Interestingly, on 6 June, when the Facebook video appeared, the police were investigating a case of theft of funeral items.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp said on investigation the police found the coffin had been given to the man carrying it as a gift and he was hoping to sell it. It has nothing to do with the stolen funeral items.

The man had exited Anchor Street and was walking down Strand Street with the coffin.
