MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - The Mossel Bay Municipality urged residents not to attempt crossing flooded roads and low-water crossings in and around the greater Mossel Bay following sustained heavy rainfall.
Here is an updated list (as of 09:00 today, Thursday 4 June) of the roads that are currently closed and the routes affected by these closures.
• DR1581, Geelbeksvlei Road (towards Brandwag)
• DR1633 (towards Jonkersberg)
• DR1602 (Kleinplaas)
• DR1604 (Haelkraal)
• DR1617 (Leeukloof).

The municipality also shared a few important reminders and safety tips:
• Even shallow water can sweep vehicles away.
• Road surfaces may be damaged or washed away beneath the water.
• Water levels can rise rapidly without warning.
• It is often difficult to judge depth and current strength.
• Turn around and use alternative routes.
• Avoid flooded bridges, rivers and low-lying crossings.
• Keep a safe distance from affected areas.
• Follow instructions from traffic officers and emergency services.
