WESTERN CAPE NEWS - The Western Cape provincial MEC for Culture and Sport, Minister Anroux Marais, wants to hear your stories.
She is launching an oral history initiative in public libraries in the Western Cape to capture and document the untold stories of the various communities, and she wants people to participate by sharing their own stories, experiences and history at the various libraries across the province.
On 3 December Minister Marais will be at the Mossel Bay Library to launch the local campaign.
All residents are invited to visit their nearest library in the meantime to leave their details so that the library personnel may contact them to capture their stories.
Eventually, a video will be produced with the oral history of the greater Mossel Bay area.
Those residents who would prefer to write their stories in their own language are invited to do so with the assurance that they will be recorded without any changes.
The aim of the initiative is to capture the stories of the area for the benefit of the generations to come. Eventually, copies of these stories will be placed in the libraries.
