Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Teams from the Directorate of Infrastructure Services have inspected the emergency exit from Dana Bay and readied for use as part of the JOC contingency plan during the protest action that started in KwaNonqaba this morning.
The route will be ready for use this afternoon and clear directions will be available on video – to be supplied on social media.
Road closures:
- Dana Bay intersection to Casino Road (on Louis Fourie Road),
- Mayixhale Street to Watson Street (Voorbaai).
The N2 is open but monitored by Provincial Traffic Services as well as SAPS. The traffic is not flowing as normal on Louis Fourie Road past the Langeberg Mall and towards the CBD area. No congestion has been reported.
With the JOC fully operational, a combination of drone and helicopter footage, community leaders and community safety professionals on the ground are keeping us abreast of all developments.
Several meetings are taking place this morning between the Mossel Bay Municipality, stakeholders in community safety, religious and community leaders to resolve the conflict.
