EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - Several fires have been caused by lightning in the following areas of the Eden District:
- Gouna
- Dubbelberg
- Molen River
- Spitskop
- Goudveld Plantations
- Jonkersberg
SANParks have established a Joint Operations Centre (JOC) in Knysna to deal with the 4 fires in the nearby vicinity.
At this stage, SANParks holds the task as official Incident Commander.
Aerial firefighting resources have been deployed, including reconnaissance flights.
The list of organisations and groups currently involved include Eden District Municipality, WoF, PG Bison, MTO, SANParks and farmers.
