MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Police are investigating a case of robbery and assault after an incident at Dias Beach on Friday, 11 March.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp said two elderly women were walking on the beach near the rocks near the suburb of Boland Park, just after midday, at 12:05.
They were a 65-year-old and her sister-in-law.
An unknown man wearing overalls approached them and demanded their phones.
The women resisted and a scuffle broke out in which the 65-year-old was injured on her thumb, which was bleeding afterwards. Both women were bruised. The robber escaped with one cellphone.
The women opened the case only today because they were shaken and in shock yesterday.
Kapp reminds the public that this part of Dias Beach is high crime zone and should be avoided. There have been a number of incidents there before.
Kapp urges people to report all incidents of crime to the police.
The Da Gamaskop Police Station detectives are investigating the case.
