MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Members of Ainsley Hermanus’s motorcycle club in Emalahleni, the Coal Riders, drove through the night to arrive in Mossel Bay in time for his drive by memorial today at 17:00.
“We left at about 18:00 last night,” one of the Coal Train Riders members told the Mossel Bay Advertiser this afternoon at the memorial.
Traffic was congested in Koningklip Street as motorists too paid tribute to Hermanus (23), whose body was found between Gariepdam and Colesberg next to the N1 on Tuesday, 20 July after he went missing on 17 July.

At the Hermanus home, a photograph of Hermanus was set up at on a red carpet with the inscription “Welcome to my last ride”. Fellow members of the Coal Riders flanked the red carpet, forming a guard of honour.
“He was the youngest member of our club. His death was a huge shock to us,” commented one of the members.
Hermanus will be laid to rest tomorrow. His funeral takes place at the All Saints Church.
