MOSSEL BAY NEWS - An armed robber who traumatised nine-year-old and five-year-old children when he robbed their home in 2016, was recently sentenced to four years' imprisonment for aggravated robbery and to three years for burglary and theft.
The man, Siyabonga Skalika, was traced to a correctional facility in Paarl after forensic experts managed to positively link him to a fingerprint found on the scene of the robbery.
He managed to make off with a laptop computer and some clothing when he robbed the house in Mawawa Street, KwaNonqaba, scaring the children by brandishing a firearm.
It has since transpired that Skalika is facing other charges in the Paarl and Wellington areas.
The officer commanding of the KwaNonqaba Police Investigations Unit, Capt Ashley Michaels, congratulated the investigating officer in the case, Sgt Kekaza, on his diligence in pursuing the case and tracing the robber to Paarl.
The sentences for the charges in Mossel Bay will be served concurrently.
