MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The KwaNonqaba police have opened an inquest docket after the body of a baby was found late on Monday afternoon, 3 June.
Constables Nani and Mkanzi responded to a call from a resident who happened to notice a dog with something in the bushes.
Upon investigation, the resident, who walked among bushes in the Mzola Street area, realised it was the body of a baby boy that may have been born sometime this past weekend.
Captain Wolmerans of the KwaNonqaba police and the sector commanders responded immediately.
The baby's umbilical cord was neatly severed, giving the impression that the baby must have been born at home. Forensic pathologists and Mossel Bay emergency personnel were called to the scene and assisted the police with their investigation.
The investigating officers, Sgt Dominique Deuster and WO Geoffery Moos (044 606 5600) request the community to assist with any information on the matter.
