Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Nomonde Sixaxeni, mother of Lusanda Sixaxeni (27), who passed away in China on 12 September, says the family has raised enough money to bring Lusanda's body to South Africa.
Mossel Bay residents and other South Africans helped the family of teacher and Mossel Bay resident Lusanda after they made it known they could not afford the cost - about R400 000 - to bring the body home.
If the KwaNonqaba family could not bring the body home, it would have had to be cremated, which is against the family's beliefs.
Lusanda was a former Point High School learner. The cause of her death is not yet known.
This week Nomonde told the Mossel Bay Advertiser the R400 000 had been raised.
"We can't say much yet as we are busy finalising paperwork from China and are still busy handing over the payment."
