MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - On Saturday, 25 July, protestors engaged in a national slow drive mass protest all over South Africa.
Locally, protestors against the ban of cigarettes gathered on Saturday at the Salt & Copper restaurant outside Hartenbos, from where they left for Great Brak.
All the Covid-19 protocols were adhered to and the George Public Order Policing (POP) Unit was present to see that the slow drive was orderly and in line with all the lockdown regulations.
The slow drive was an Orange Movement initiative and although the convoy was not as large as in the protest against farm murders the previous weekend, the message was clear to government that the rights of smokers had been removed with the ban on tobacco.
With the slogans, "Let our voices be heard" and "The time is now" - and using orange balloons, protestors nationwide voiced their concerns.
