About Marcia Kimpton
Marcia Kimpton
Even during a pandemic, producer, director, and actress Marcia Kimpton explores the globe to deliver humor when it’s needed most.
Cape Town, South Africa (November 15, 2021) - Whether she’s swimming with sharks, biking through the vineyards of France, or hiking in the mountains of Colorado, “An American Abroad” is a television series unlike anything on the air.
This “scripted” reality series showcases some of the most sought-after destinations across the globe. “I feel like the luckiest person on earth,” says Kimpton, who not only stars in the series, but also co-wrote, directed and produced this 11-episode adventure.
“I know so many people are afraid to travel right now, but we have been able to see the most incredible countries, meeting all walks of life, and we’re doing it during a pandemic. We have defied the odds!”
Some of the chosen destinations include Thailand, India, Morocco, the Netherlands, Turkey (Cappadocia and Istanbul), Greece (Hydra and Patmos), France (Beaune), and Portugal (Lisbon). Marcia and her crew of 13 have spent the summer and fall of 2021 traveling for the first time in a year and a half. In the post-pandemic world, “An American Abroad” will encourage travel to locations that rely heavily on tourism. “There are so many places that need things to open back up in order to survive, and we are going to travel the world to showcase the best of the best,” says Kimpton, who incorporates humor, and interviews with locals to capture the essence of each town she visits. “I was just hanging with rhinos and Cape buffalo in South Africa. I sipped chardonnay at the hottest nightclub in Amsterdam. And I’m just getting started.”
Marcia is a filmmaker, writer, director, producer and actress based in Aspen, Colorado after living in Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles for many years.
In addition she is a late night host, and co-host of the Climb Podcast. She recently directed, wrote, produced, and acted in the film BARDO BLUES, which has won over 40 awards.
