Asla Park: Feedback on demands

The Mossel Bay Municipality issued comprehensive feedback to the Asla Park community following protracted talks between community representatives and the municipal executive after the recent violent protests.

The community representatives issued a list of 15 demands to which they expected answers. This list was extensively discussed and it was decided that several follow-up meetings would take place before the end of September.

The community nominated several representatives to take up the various issues with the municipality.

At the meeting, the community also expressed concern at a lack of representatives from the Department of Justice and/or the National Prosecuting Authority, and underscored the importance of engaging with these representatives also.
