MOSSEL BAY NEWS - For the second time in a week ambulance personnel were targeted by criminals as they responded to call outs in KwaNonqaba.
This morning at 04:50 an ambulance responded to a call for help in KwaNonqaba. Three ambulance personnel were dispatched along with the vehicle.
Outside the home where an elderly lady was suffering from a very high fever, the family and members of the community gathered. A young man talking on a cellphone was noted in the crowd.
When the family and two of the ambulance personnel went into the home to attend to the patient, the young man who was previously noticed walked over to the ambulance staffer who remained in the ambulance.
Following a conversation between the ambulance man and this person, the perpetrator threatened the ambulance man with a knife and made off with his cellphone.
Last week, on Saturday evening, perpetrators vandalised an ambulance in Scholtz Street when the emergency personnel attended to a case.
