MOSSEL BAY NEWS - With the Mossel Bay's Got Talent (MBGT) showcase in its final stages, the spotlight falls on one of the longest serving members on the judging panel, dance school owner and teacher, Angeline Mynhardt.
The Mossel Bay Advertiser posed a few questions to this seasoned performer and tutor.
• How long have you been involved with MBGT?
Ten years. My daugther was born on 9 June 2009 and I joined MBGT on 16 June.
• What are the main things you have seen change over the years?
The careers being formed by MBGT. It's not just a competition, it's a stepping stone. The community support for this competition is amazing.
• What still excites you about being involved in MBGT?
The raw talent we find as well as helping to develop those talents. Our input as judges and being able to help build these young people. Being able to give of ourselves in order to make others better is so exciting.
• Highlights? And successes - things you are particularly proud of?
Definitely the finals. Every time the contestants bring their A game it's always tough as they are all good.
Highlights for me are those who are still successful after the competition - those who are still living the dream and those who have won, who are now empowering the youth.
I am also particularly proud of Yolande van Aswegen, who has been facilitating the competition from the get-go.
She has really given so much to this project and believes so strongly in the talents of our youth. She truly is one amazing lady.
• Particularly funny moments?
There are so many at the judges' table, but what happens at the judges' table, stays at the judges' table.
• What is your opinion of talent in Mossel Bay and surrounds?
I am truly blessed to live in a town where talent is so evident.
Mossel Bay really gives our youth amazing opportunities to develop those talents.
A lot of work goes into this programme. Many auditions and many rehearsals; the team work really hard to ensure these contestants have the best possible chance at success.
I am so honoured to be a part of this project. We meet so many unique individuals with interesting backgrounds. We meet their fans and families. Its a fun-filled programme that just brings out the best in the youth of Mossel Bay. I hope the project sticks around for many years to come.
