GARDEN ROUTE SPORT NEWS - The Nipper Cape Championships took place in Plettenberg Bay from 25 to 26 January and 13 Nippers from the Mossel Bay Surf Lifesaving Club (MBSLC) took part. There were eight clubs in total at the championships.
The overall winners were Summerstrand from Port Elizabeth, with a huge score of 2 604.

- 6th, Hobie Beach (Port Elizabeth) - 55
- 7th, Blue Water Bay (Port Elizabeth) - 52

MBSLC Nippers results:
Sidney-John Philips-Moorcroft took part in the U7 Micro Nippers. He won gold in the Flags, Beach Sprints, Body Board and Surf Swim events, as well as a silver in the Beach Run. Chané Reinecke, girls U13, won gold in the Flags and Board (Malibu) races, and silver in the Beach Sprints. Chané also ended 3rd overall among the U13 girls.
Tonya Schoeman won silver in the girls U12 Beach Run. Rocco Calitz just missed out on the medals, with 4th places the U14 boys Flags, Board Race and the tough Iron Nipper contest. Ethan Venter also achieved a 4th place in the U12 boys Flags.
