Nearly 900 players from all over the country took part in a strongly contested and successful tournament. Players were divided into age groups.
Our winning ladies team took the honours in the 35-plus section, despite the average age of the team being around 45.
The men’s team that emerged victorious managed a comfortable victory in the 50+ section. The two other teams representing SWD did not win their respective sections.
They played gallantly and will be competing for top honours again next year when the tournament is hosted in East London by Border.
Squash is a growing sport in the Southern Cape and a lot of time, money and energy is invested in young players.
Apart from the individual trophies won by the men’s and ladies’ teams, Southern Cape also won a Shield as the "Best Small Province".
