MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Jon-David Duthie, a promising rugby player born and bred in Mossel Bay, has once again done his hometown proud. He was selected, out of all the schools that participated in the VKB rugby week in June, for the ITEC invitational rugby team that will attend a tournament in Ireland from 1 to 10 October.
Duthie, who is currently attending High School Hentie Cilliers in Virginia in the Free State, was chosen by a panel of professional selectors based on his performance during the tournament.
During selection, Duthie, who plays lock, was also named best in his position overall.
The Ireland tour has been specifically set up to not only allow the players to enjoy the essence of the people and offerings of Ireland, but also expose them to opportunities available to them in the future. For those with the ambition of playing professional rugby, the tour may serve as a taste of what is to come.
Duthie's commitment to rugby has earned him many accolades and both the Sharks and WP Rugby Academy have shown interest in securing his talent.
