A good number of girls turned up for the training.
Get to grips with the game
The aim is for the youth to get to grips with the game, not just have a passing knowledge.
Coaching them were Sao Bras High School teacher Ariel Smith, who played rugby for the Stellenbosch women's team; SWD community coach Stanley Kama; and Mxolisi Taite Klas from Uitenhage, who is a former U20 Springbok and ex-teammate of Kama from Swallows in Uitenhage.
Eastern Province
Klaas also played in the U18 team for Eastern Province.
The girls learnt ball handling skills by doing a lot of passing and they were urged to keep eye contact with one another and communicate while throwing and catching.
The importance of communication between players on the field was impressed on them.
