MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay's Zane Briesies did extremely well to come second in his age group at the SA Nipper Nationals held in Gqeberha at the end of March.
Zane, of Marlin Lifesaving Club, competed in the U/14 category, against the best nippers in the country.
The championships took place from 20 to 24 March.
Zane achieved a fourth place in the flags and then a second place in the beach run, in which 32 nippers took part. These results gained him overall second place among all the nippers competing from all over South Africa.
Next, he will take part in the Western Cape Championships on 14 May in Cape Town.
He hopes to do well and then compete again in the next national championships.
Besides his high performance as a nipper, Zane, a Grade 8 learner at Point High School also plays rugby for the U/14 A and B teams and he plays cricket.
