EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - A total of 82 coaches from 23 sport federations attended the workshop presented by the Eden District Coaches Commission and the Eden District Sport Academy.
Many of the attending coaches regarded the presentations as the best they ever experienced.
The international leading coach in strength conditioning, Terseus Liebenberg from North West University, presented several theory and practical sessions.
Two panels of coaches and experts, including Liebenberg, Abrie de Swardt, Mariette le Roux, André Alexander, Cedric Finch, Fekile Blauw and Henrico Louw, discussed topics like the developmental pathway of coaches and development of training programmes.
The workshop was the second of its kind in 2017, and the seventh since 2013. In total, nearly 500 coaches of more than 30 sport federations, clubs and schools have attended the workshops since 2013 at the Eden District Sport Academy.
Liebenberg coaches Jo-Ane van Dyk, second at the Junior World Championships in the javelin in 2016, and a past athlete of the Eden District Academy.
