Veteran Donovan van Gelder coasted to victory on Sunday, wrapping up a comfortable win at the two-day Eleven Global Triathlon at Sun City.
The 44-year-old Durbanite won the pro-division title in 3:09:49, after securing victory in the sprint race on Saturday and again in the standard-distance event on Sunday.
His combined time was nearly four minutes clear of 46-year-old Glen Gore, with veterans dominating the challenging event, held in warm conditions at the Sun City holiday resort.
“The bike leg was relatively easy, despite the wind picking up and a little climb at the end. Other than that it was pretty quick,” Van Gelder said.
