Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Despite the mercury rising to 47 degrees Celsius on Saturday, 15 January, Denmark's Simon Andreassen won the 16th Attakwas Extreme cycling challenge which started in Oudtshoorn and ended in Great Brak.
Oudtshoorn's Yolande de Villiers excelled in the extreme heat and dominated the women's race.

So great was the heat that 100 competitors pulled out of the race as early as the first watering point.
