GEORGE NEWS - The Otto siblings from George have made some big strides on the motorcycling circuit in South Africa this year. Ricardo won the AMSC 600cc championship in his first season of 600cc racing and his sister Zanté, jumping from the 300cc class to the 600cc thanks to Monroe Racing, showed great promise.
After qualifying in 8th position on the grid, she finished 7th in race one and third in race two, where she was chasing her brother Ricardo, who won the race. She also set up her quickest lap time of the weekend in this race.
Ricardo qualified second in the 600 cc class and had an awesome battle with Jared Schultz in heat one.
The last lap battle was cut short when a back marker got between the two riders halfway through, making it impossible for Ricardo to make a final lunge for the win.
After a few hours of waiting everybody was hoping for a good battle in race two, but confusion ensued when half of the pits' intercom system malfunctioned, causing most of the riders to get out on the track late and having to start from pit lane.
Ricardo, who was out in time, had a comfortable race win on his own out front.
Zanté Otto had a lot of fun at the AMSC 600cc championship on her Monroe Yamaha R6, finishing third overall in the last race and setting her quickest lap time of the weekend.
