In an email sent to the club, Middendorp said he decided to resign because of the severe limitation of PSL qualified players in the Stars team.
“It is with great shock to announce the sudden resignation of head coach Ernst Middendorp from the club with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.
“In his resignation, Mr Middendorp sent the General Manager, Rantsi Mokoena an email stating his immediate resignation sighting the reason as the severe limitation of PSL qualified players in the team.
“We wish Mr Middendorp well in his future endeavours. The club will make an announcement for his replacement in due course.”
Stars occupy 10th spot on the log after 11 matches, with just four wins, three draws and four losses for a 15 point total.
