The impressive WP team took top honours in the men's division when they outplayed EP by 39-29 in a most entertaining final. As worthy winners they were unbeaten during their round robin games which included a most impressive win over Kingfisher (64-22) as well as a tightly fought victory of 38-37 over Johannesburg.
Although on the loosing side, EP showed off their silver medals with pride. Their round robin games included wins over Northern Fee State, Limpopo as well as Eastern Gauteng.
The ladies final between Sables and Gauteng North most probably was the pick of the week's games. In a display of top class bowls this closely contested encounter entertained and enthralled.
After 21 ends it was Gauteng North who claimed victory and gold by a mere two points (38-36).
During the post match presentation Kallie Haupt, executive member of Bowls South Africa, paid tribute to the management teams and players of all of the twenty provinces, for the tremendous spirit and comaraderie in which the tournament was contested.
As hosting province, Bowls Southern Cape was complimented on the slick running of the tournament, the condition of the greens - prepared by the George, Outeniqua and Oudtshoorn Bowling Clubs - as well as true Southern Cape hospitality.
