GARDEN ROUTE SPORT NEWS - The Farm Run 5km, 10km and 21km trail runs took place near George on Saturday, 4 December, and there was a substantial turnout of 283 participants.
The runs were cancelled last year, owing to Covid-19. This year they started and ended at the Four Brothers Potato Store on the R404 road between George Airport and Blanco.
There was an excited buzz among runners in the large potato warehouse before the race.

Corné Botha of Jakhals Events, which organises the well-run event, said he was satisfied with the turnout. "Although we had to postpone the event because of a PetroSA race which was scheduled for the same day the week before and people are nervous of being in large groups because of Covid-19, we still had a good turnout."
The well-marked course with regular water and snack points and high-visibility medical support took runners through farms and also on dust roads, skirting farms. The George area is extremely green and verdant after the heavy rains and entrants enjoyed beautiful spring scenery with the Outeniqua Mountains as a backdrop.
The scenery was superb.
