MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - The Vastrap 4x4 club went to Roggeland on Saturday, 4 March, to have some fun.
Six vehicles were brave enough to take on the route even with the weather warnings flooding in.
The adventure starts with a scenic route across the farm, but don't think scenic means easy. There are lots of technical aspects to this scenic drive. The club members had time to stop and take in the view and just enjoy nature.
Once they reached the first obstacle, the fun really started with the Nissan Patrol having to do a recovery.
The Kia Sportage didn't want to engage into four-wheel drive and we got to see some magnificent drifting from Burt as he attempted to get up the hill. In the end the Patrol had to assist with the last stretch up the hill. There was spectacular driving by Burt.

Then it was a fairly straightforward drive to the sandpit. Before we even started the Patrol had to go help the owner, Gert, who had got stuck on the big hill when driving through the route in anticipation of our arrival.
The winds had moved some sand to make a nice little hump at the top. The Patrol quickly evened it out and the group could enjoy the sandpit. Lizette, in her Suzuki, showed the boys she could do what they could and just went for it.
All in all, it was a great day out, with the rain only arriving much later. Contact Kobus (076 397 9720) to join the next adventure.
