SPORT NEWS – The Eden pool team achieved seventh position out of 19 competitors at the South African eight-ball pool championships in Saldanha Bay last weekend.
Although the team had to compete as a sub-district of the Cape Winelands, it still made its mark.
In the B division, with 169 competitors, the following spots were taken by Eden players:
20 - Christo van Schalkwyk
34 - Johannes Christiaan Visser
48 - Donovan Geswindt
58 - Brian Ely
66 - Eduan Strauss
67 - Roderick Pedro
125 - Duran Claassen
126 - Wayne Hendricks
140 - Juan Reynol Malgas
"Our local lads made the Eden district proud. We are grateful to all our sponsors for supporting us," said the team manager, Anco Barker. He said the local club had plans to grow the sport among the youth.
